Folklife Collection - Local Legends: Bloody Henny

by Salisbury University Students (1970, 1972)

1 folder (0.1 linear feet)

In a series of interviews of local Eastern Shore residents during 1970 to 1972, former Salisbury University students and professors, Cathy Wright, Debbie McCollister, and Mrs. Sylvia Smith collected folk legends. For this collection, these interviews focus on the story of Bloody Henny. Henny was a African American slave who was treated poorly and one day she took revenge and harmed her master and his family. She was caught and trialed in Spring Valley, Maryland. Most interviews include personal descriptions of the interviewer and informant, and the story.
